For most DIY detailers starting their first full-panel correction, a free-spinning dual-action — the DEWALT DCM848, Milwaukee M18 FUEL 15mm, or Flex XFE 15 150 — is the safer and more forgiving entry point than any forced-rotation rotary. Save the rotary for once that technique is dialed in. And for anything short of a full panel, a $20–$30 drill kit will do the job for a fraction of the cost of a machine that was never built for spot work in the first place.
